Five Minutes or an Hour: The Case for Cozy Games

Five Minutes or an Hour: The Case for Cozy Games

May 2, 2026 · Lukas Berger

Not every game needs to challenge you. Some of my favorite phone sessions are spent nudging a tiny fishing village toward prosperity in Tiny Harbor Town, with no timer and no pressure in sight.

Cozy games fit mobile perfectly. They don't punish interruptions, they save instantly, and they let you set your own pace. That makes them ideal for the odd scraps of free time a phone usually fills.

The good ones still have real systems under the calm surface. A town sim that reacts to your layout decisions keeps my brain gently engaged without ever stressing me out.

If your library is all action and no rest, add one cozy game. It changes how the whole phone feels at the end of a long day.
