What Actually Makes a Mobile RPG Worth It
Mobile RPGs are a crowded, messy genre. For every Emberfall Chronicles there are twenty games that look the part but crumble once you notice the systems are just a spreadsheet with a cape on.
The first thing I look for is whether choices matter. A good mobile RPG remembers what you did and reflects it later, even in small ways. That's what pulls me back between sessions.
Second is respect for your time. Phones get played in fragments, so a strong RPG saves cleanly, loads fast, and doesn't demand a two-hour block to feel meaningful. Party-based combat helps here, because a single fight can be a complete, satisfying chunk.
Finally, art and pacing. A great story told through a clunky interface still frustrates me. Give me clean menus and I'll forgive a lot. Get those three things right and you've got something I'll finish.
